Frequently asked questions

What is the benefit of an astrology consultation?

Astrology opens up a vast and profound realm of information for a person - insights about the choices they make in life, their talents and abilities, their relationships, and what underlies their attractions and aversions. It offers a window into our psychological complexity and that of those close to us. A birth chart - of a person, event, or even a country - can bring clarity to the life story it represents: both the visible and the hidden narrative, rich in dynamic layers. Astrology offers deep understanding and insight about oneself and the world, and it often inspires awe at the meaningful connection between the human microcosm and the macrocosmic nature of the universe.

What’s the difference between Western and Vedic (Indian) astrology?

This is probably the most common question I get asked. It’s a long answer, often involving technical details that tend to bore the average inquirer - usually by the second sentence, I’ve lost them (or they’ve lost me). That said, the two are separate systems with similarities and many differences. Broadly speaking, Western astrology excels in understanding personality dynamics, psychology, motivations, and soul purpose. Vedic astrology, on the other hand, shines in its practicality - it clearly shows how a person’s potential is likely to manifest in real life and gives concrete insights into different areas of life.
This is a very short and partial answer, I know. But as mentioned, there’s little point delving into technical distinctions at this stage unless one is already fluent in the astrological language.

How do you combine both systems of astrology?

The integration comes from deep, ongoing study and internalization of each system independently. It’s important to note that these are two distinct systems. While they use a similar language and share building blocks, each has its own rules, interpretations, and unique logic. Think of them as two siblings born into the same family - there’s genetic overlap, but each grows into a very different individual.
For each client session, I analyze and interpret both charts - the Vedic and the Western - separately. I treat each system as complete in itself, and then synthesize the findings into one coherent summary which I present to the client. The two systems beautifully complement and enrich each other, allowing for a more accurate and comprehensive analysis.

Why is the exact birth time so important for an astrology chart?

Birth time is a fundamental element in chart calculation. It determines the Ascendant, which in turn affects the precise placement of all the planets. Without a birth time, it’s very difficult to interpret a chart. You can still gather a lot of information, but it’s like trying to understand a puzzle with many pieces missing—you might get some insights, but connecting the dots into a full picture is much harder.

Can astrology really predict the future?

I don’t believe it’s possible to predict events with 100% accuracy—nor do I think that’s the point. Any method that claims to predict the future with certainty is bound to fail in some way. Life is dynamic and ever-changing, and at every moment we have choices that influence our future. So I don’t attempt to predict exact events. What I can do is identify significant themes, energies, and time periods when certain things are more likely to happen. I can see which areas of life are coming into focus and which are more dormant.

What do you think of horoscopes in the media?

They’re based solely on the position of the Sun and are extremely general. They might be entertaining and even occasionally insightful, but they’re no substitute for a professional consultation based on personal data.
Personally, I stopped reading those types of horoscopes once I began studying astrology seriously.

Is astrology a fatalistic system that denies free will?

It’s a mistake to think that astrology takes away our free will. On the contrary—astrology expands our awareness, offers new perspectives, and deepens our understanding. That, in turn, expands our freedom of action and choice.
One more thing: The planets don’t cause events—they reflect them. When we speak astrologically, it can sound like something happens because a planet is in a certain position. But that’s not the case. The planets symbolize and mirror what’s going on—they are not the cause.

I’m a Taurus, and someone told me never to marry a Sagittarius.

No, no, that’s too simplistic. Relationship compatibility is one of astrology’s most nuanced and powerful applications. It’s a shame to fall into the trap of misconceptions from media horoscopes or non-professional sources.
When evaluating compatibility, your Sun sign plays a role - but a very small one. What we call a “sign” usually refers only to the sign the Sun was in at birth. But there are many other signs in your chart - Moon sign, Ascendant, Mars, Venus, and more.
In relationship analysis, astrologers pay close attention to the connections between the partners’ Moon signs, Ascendants, Mars, and Venus. The Sun signs are much less crucial. It’s a deep, complex, and professional process.
My advice: Even if you don’t choose to consult an astrologer about a relationship, take all you’ve heard about sign compatibility with a big grain of salt, and never dismiss someone just because of their sign.

I don’t believe in astrology, but I’m curious what you’d see in my chart.

First of all - you’re absolutely welcome :) And yes, it’s quite common. Many people who don’t “believe” in astrology are still very curious to hear what their birth chart might reveal.
It’s totally fine not to believe—it’s also fine to be skeptical. I’m not in the business of converting anyone. I support critical thinking, and I believe everyone should stay true to their own beliefs and preferences.
Just to clarify—astrology, for me, isn’t a matter of belief. It’s a rich symbolic language with a consistent internal logic that helps me understand myself and life.
Personally, I really enjoy working with people who say they don’t believe in astrology - as long as they come with an open mind. And usually (depending on the accuracy of their birth time), they’re pretty amazed by what comes out of the chart. Not because I’m amazing - but because this often happens with many professional astrologers.
